ECM makes changes: Fr Mtseka retained

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has announced new appointments.

While making the new appointments, some positions have also been retained following the renewal of contracts.

Announcing the appointments through a communique released on 24th June 2022, the new appointments and renewal of some contracts were made at the end of the Bishop’s plenary held from 20th to 24th June 2022.

The appointments are as follows;

Fr Alfred Chaima from the Archdiocese of Blantyre- Secretary General for Conference.

Fr Joseph Sikwese from Karonga Diocese- National Pastoral Coordinator.

Brother Pascal Mtuwana (FIC)- Acting Director of Social Services.

Fr Israel Madziakaphwa from Mangochi Diocese- Principal St Thomas Moore- Nanjili campus of the Catholic University of Malawi.

Fr Henry Saindi from Mangochi Diocese- Principal- St John’s College of Health Sciences and Teaching Hospital of the Catholic University of Malawi in Mzuzu.

Fr Cosmas Kadzombe from Dedza Diocese- Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Nguludi Campus of the Catholic University.

Fr Valeriano Mtseka and Mrs. Bertha Magomero’s contracts have been renewed as Deputy Secretary General for ECM and National Health Coordinator respectively.

The Bishops hold two plenaries every year where among other duties, make appointments to fill positions at the secretariat and also in the church’s national institutions.
