In his speech at the end of the ceremony, the Bishop reminded all members of the legion of Mary that suffering and challenges will always come their way as they serve God.

“Many will say all sorts of things; ridicule you or insult you but do not tire or shy away from serving God and others through Legion of Mary”

The Legion of Mary came to start its mission in Chikwawa Diocese having come to Malawi at the invitation of Fr Delaunay in 1940. The apostolate began in the Diocese through the efforts of other members of the apostolate from Blantyre and established comitium in Bangula and Nchalo in 2000. The local members of the apostolate went around the Diocese established subsequent comitium.

Among the activities marking the celebrations were awarding certificates to long serving members and also issuing resources or tools for the service in the apostolate.
