Bishop Musikuwa gets AstraZeneca Covid19 vaccine jab

Right Rev Peter Musikuwa, Bishop of the Diocese of Chikwawa, on Friday 19th March 2021, got his first dose of Covid19 vaccine. The Bishop got his first jab at Montfort hospital which is one of the church’s health facilities in the diocese.

Speaking when arranging to receive his first jab, the Bishop said he was ready to take the vaccine as it was certified safe and efficient by different health experts and also the church’s relevant bodies. He further says he decided to take the vaccine not just for his safety but also to set an example to the population and so help instill trust in the vaccine.

Recently, there have been news of some European countries suspending the roll out of the vaccination program due to incidences of blood clots in some of the recipients of the vaccine.

Since the European medicines agency’s declaration that the vaccine is safe and efficient, many people will be willing to get vaccinated. The vaccination exercise will be taking place in all the health facilities for the diocese spread in the three districts of Nsanje, Chikwawa and Thyolo
