Fr Chaima appointed bishop of Zomba

Pope Francis has appointed Very Reverend Father Alfred Mateyu Chaima as the Bishop for the Diocese Zomba. 

 Meanwhile, a statement signed by  Most Reverend George Tambala,  President for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi has congratulated Father Chaima for the apppointment.

Chaima was born on 14th July 1970 and was ordained priest on 4th July 1998 by the Late Archbishop James Chiona.

He holds a PhD in  Pastoral Theology among many other academic levels to his name.

He also previously held academic positions at the University of Malawi and the Catholic University. 

His appointment comes while serving at ECM as Secretary General.
