Malawi to host Bishops’ Sub-Regional Conference
The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has announced that a Sub Regional conference of Bishops will take place in Malawi from the 15th to 19th July 2023.
In a communication dated 22nd September 2023, signed by the ECM President Most Rev George Desmond Tambala, the conference will be attended by Bishops’ conferences of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
“The Bishops’ Sub-Regional Conference provides a platform for Bishops to exchange ideas, share experiences and collaborate on initiatives that promote unity, spiritual growth, and social justice within our communities. This conference plays a vital role in fostering dialogue and strengthening the bonds among the three conferences across in the region.” Reads part of the communication.
In the spirit of the Conference, the Bishops will strive to achieve some key objectives and among them are; promotion of unity, spiritual growth, addressing contemporary challenges, strengthening pastoral challenges and others.
The Bishops have gone further to make a call for collaboration in preparation for the conference. Fundraising activities have been lined up to help finance the hosting of the conference. Through Diocesan Fundraising teams, fundraising activities as printing and selling of the cloth, Dinner and Dance and Jumble sale have been organized to raise funds for the conference.
The conference will be held under the theme: “Building Bridges: Strengthening Faith, Unity, and Service.”
The conference will take place at the Blue Waters Lake Resort in Salima.
