The Catholic Church allows the establishment of religious congregations to help in her mission through the congregation’s special charism. The congregation of sisters of Mary the Consoler of the Afflicted is a local lay religious movement that is of local right. It has mandate of mission only within the Diocese of Chikwawa Diocese. Its founder is Late Rt Rev Felix Mkhori who was the bishop of Chikwawa at the time.
The perpetual vows are a sign that these sisters are committing the rest of their lives to serving God.
