All set for Holy Childhood Day in Chikwawa Diocese
Children from the across the diocese will on Sunday, 2nd January 2022, converge at Chikwawa Cathedral to celebrate Missionary Day for Children also known as Holy Childhood Day.
Holy Childhood Day is celebrated every year with the aim of enhancing children’s missionary zeal and life in the church and society.
This year’s celebration will be held under the theme “Empowering children to take up missionary role at their tender age” for Christ s telling them “You will be my witnesses …. To the ends of the earth”, (Acts 1:8).
Through the animation of the PMS, the Holy Father, under whose mission this apostolate falls, emphasizes that; through prayer, the most important and very first missionary act, prayer of every child must be pleasing to God and has to reach all the people of the world. That through services to the needy and when properly guided, children can be filled with compassion and can be so passionate about doing some services and make a difference in the society and the church. And through contributions, children are taught to offer and contribute money or materials for supporting a certain cause.
Among the activities of the day, children will take lead in reading, singing and other parts of the liturgy of the day.
Holy Childhood Day was instituted in the church as a universal celebration in 1922 by Pope Pius XI to promote missionary formation for children.
The National celebration will be held in Bangwe Parish in Blantyre Archdiocese.
