Bishop Musikuwa drums up support for the missionary work of the Church
On 11th September 2021, the Bishop of the Diocese of Chikwawa, Right Reverend Peter Musikuwa, urged members of the Church to step up various efforts that promote the missionary work of the Church in the diocese. He made the call during a hand over ceremony of a modern Sanitary facility donated to St Michaels Chikwawa Parish by a member of the Church, Mr Stankius Thomas Kaiya.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Bishop Musikuwa expressed his delight to see Church members accepting the responsibility of looking after the Church mainly through channeling donations towards its work and championing various charity initiatives within the community.
‘The donation that has been made here today clearly shows that the christians are ready to take an active role in the work of the Church. This is something that Jesus Christ commanded us to do”
“I therefore commend Mr Kaiya who has made this donation to the Church here. Clearly there were sanitation issues before and this modern Sanitary facility will reduce related woes’
Bishop Musikuwa added
During the event, five members of St Michaels Church received certificates of recognition for varied roles they played and unwavering support rendered to the Church. Among them were the family of Mr and Mrs Francisco Zonse, Mrs Kaphamtengo, Mr Clement Khembo and Mrs Manyusa.
Mr. Kaiya who constructed the modern facility at an undisclosed amount, said helping the work of the church confers him a good feeling.
He implores other members of the church especially fellow youths to be active and play noticeable roles in various projects happening around the Church.
‘I am very excited to see myself helping the church that raised me. I feel we can do more. The youth specifically should take a front seat, championing a string of projects around’
‘Currently, there is a plan to renovate the Parish church. I look forward to more collaboration amongst us members as we contribute towards that’
Kaiya added.
The whole handover event started with unveiling ceremony of the newly constructed facility, followed by a holy mass celebration and concluded by a luncheon.
