Hospital and Prison apostolates

The apostolates help in ensuring that there is improved pastoral care for the sick and prisoners in hospitals and prisons within the diocese. Through visits, prayers and celebration of mass, these underserved members of the church receive accompaniment. Fr. Bzyakulima is the coordinator of these apostolates.

Pontifical Mission Society

A papal organization that was established to promote catechetical formation of children and foster the spirit of service in them whilst young. Fr Ignatio Yohane is the diocesan director

Liturgical desk

Liturgy is the life of the church and hence must be treated with utmost respect and dignity. This apostolate is responsible for that. The diocesan Director of Liturgy, Fr Boloma, gives direction and orientation on how liturgies on different occasions and seasons of the church must be celebrated.

Coordinator of Sacred Music

The main purpose of this desk is to make sure that all music sang in churches are in line with the teachings of the church. It above all ensures that these songs do not loose the catholic touch. In addition, it enhances coordination among all choirs while helping them to give people the proper disposition during liturgical celebrations. This apostolate is headed by Fr Martin Hanock.

Bible apostolate

This office coordinates church efforts in making the word of God accessible to many, and promotes the culture of reading the bible as a source of true wisdom and spiritual growth. Certainly, it helps people understand the word of God. Fr Jenezio Chisonga is the diocesan coordinator of this apostolate

All the movements and apostolates work under the coordination of the Diocesan Pastoral coordinator who is Father Joseph Gift Chikwapa.

CATHOLIC MEN ASSOCIATION

BRIEF HISTORY OF CATHOLIC MEN ORGANIZATION IN MALAWI AND DIOCESE OF CHIKWAWA  

Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), is one of the organizations in the Roman Catholic Church. It started in 2009 from St. Tereza and St. Kizitto Small Christian Communities (SCCs) in Mtimawoyera and St. Patrick’s Parishes respectively in Lilongwe Archdiocese.

After getting consent from the Diocesan Authorities, the Organization was launched on 4th August, 2018 in the Archdiocese on the following pillars: Spiritual, Social and Financial with St. Joseph, husband of the most Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ as Patron. Currently in Malawi Catholic Men Organization now been fully launched in the Archdioceses of Lilongwe and Blantyre

It is based on the same pillars that Chikwawa Diocese adopted this CMO on 15th August, 2018 where it was officially established in the Diocese awaiting the launch. On 19th January, 2020, the CMO Diocesan Interim Committee was ushered into office by the then Pastoral Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Shadreck Malata after wide consultations from Parish Priests and with approval from the Local Ordinary, Bishop Peter Musikuwa

CMO was launched on 11^th December, 2021 at Chikwawa Cathedral and main celebrant was Rt. Rev. Peter Musikuwa.

Currently out 14 parishes, only 6 have launched and these are St. Kalemba, Fatima, Nsanje, Misomali, St. Mathews and Changoima parish

Objectives of the CMO

1. To promote the spiritual and material activities among Catholic Men as recommended by the competent ecclesiastical authority
2. To provide a forum for Catholic men to exercise their mission in the Church
3. To encourage Catholic men develop their spiritual growth and leadership potential in the Church and society
4. To give direction to all Catholic men in the Diocese of Chikwawa for effective Leadership and service in the church.
5. To instill and enhance in Catholic men a spirit of self-support
6. To promote integral human formation and development of Catholic men
7. To continue to grow in a Christian relationship with all men and women in the Diocese
8. To encourage Catholic men to practice Catholic doctrine and to support the church at all levels within the Diocese of Chikwawa
