Friends of Radio Maria Cheer the Sick at St Kalemba Hospital

Friends of Radio Maria in the Diocese of Chikwawa, on Sunday 25th April, cheered the sick at St Kalemba in Nsanje district. Rising above their normal efforts of helping the national Catholic radio, members of the grouping donated some assorted items as they celebrated this year’s Easter season.

Among the items donated were maize flour, soya pieces, salt, sugar and soap.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, chairperson for the grouping Mr. Mathews Chimota, said that the donation was made to cheer the patients and their guardians as they endure the pain of being confined at the hospital due to various illnesses. He further stated that their visit was to encourage the sick to always believe in the mercifulness of God.

“While it is very important for the church to accelerate evangelization via Radio Maria, it is also very important reach out to the social aspects of life of people. In both ways, we bring the kingdom of God to the afflicted”. Said Chimota.

Reacting to the donation, the hospital’s Mother Superior, Sr Bertha Khaula, commended friends of Radio Maria for their assistance adding that the donation came at the right time.

“I am overwhelmed with joy. It is so good to see Radio Maria coming to our facility with their assistance. The items they have distributed will help to reduce a number of challenges being experienced by the patients”.

Said Sr Bertha

Expressing her gratitude, one of the beneficiaries, Kilinesi Paulo, described the donation as a hand of God.
