Chikwawa raffles for Cathedral renovation
Chikwawa Diocese of the Catholic Church, through a special committee announces the raffle which is aimed at raising funds to renovate St Michael’s cathedral in the Diocese.
Seeing the state of the Diocesan mother Church, efforts are being made to raise funds for a major renovation work. This project is estimated at a hundred million kwacha.
Speaking on the need for the fundraising, Mr. Valens Chibaka who is chairperson for St Michaels Cathedral Church says that with the deteriorating state of the Cathedral coupled with financial challenges, the raffle is must as a way of maximizing funds raised for this purpose.
He went further to describe the drive as a win win business since those that buy tickets for the final draw will be able to win different prizes while at the same time helping the Diocese raise the money needed.
The first prize in this draw if a motor vehicle, a brand new Mazda Demio. The second prize is a motor cycle. Other prizes include bicycle, generator, mattresses and many more.
Tickets for the draw are put in different categories; Five thousand kwacha for the first prize, two thousand five hundred kwacha for the second prize and one thousand five hundred kwacha for the other prizes.
These tickets are being sold in all parishes of the Diocese and also through friends of Chikwawa Diocese found in different dioceses like Blantyre, Zomba and Lilongwe. The final day for ticket selling is 10th December 2022.
The final draw will be held on 14th December 2022 at St Michael’s Cathedral. Activities on the day include High mass where there shall be a paper Sunday. Others are auction sales, luncheon, refreshments and braai.
