Fr Boucher dies

Fr Claude Boucher, of the Missionaries of Africa, has died.

Confirming the death, Fr Brendan O’shea, who has taken his place at Kungoni centre in Mua, said that Fr Boucher died in the evening of Monday 26th August 2024, at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.

Fondly known as aChisale, Fr Boucher was the founder of Kungoni centre for culture and arts under Mua in Dedza. As an accomplished scholar in Culture and Social Anthropology, Fr Boucher dedicated his life in making sure that religion and culture must help in forming the whole human person.

Born on 2nd August 1941, Fr Boucher served in Malawi after establishing the Kungoni Centre for more than 40 years, often attracting criticism and controversy over his perceived overly cultural indulgence.
